Introduction

One of the major problems in the United States is the teenage pregnancies. Most teenage girls are not using any type of birth control. One school in Portland ,Maine has tried to do something about it. They started handing out different forms of birth control. Two other schools started with birth control to. Oak Ridge High School had a problem about birth control. Just because there was a section in the school paper about it. Planned parent hood has helped and still is many young girls all over the US who have had unexpected pregnancies.

Should I put more information about my three topics in the introduction? (Portland, Oak Ridge,Planned Parenthood)

You should try and start it off with some sort of statistic, just so that the reader can see how big a problem teen pregnancy really is. Don't put too much about each, save that for your body paragraphs.

Another idea might be to begin with a story about why Portland decided to take such a drastic step. Zack's suggestion about including statistics could also be used too because there are probably some shocking stats from Portland which prompted their decision.

Try to be clear with your controlling idea. What is the focus of your essay going to be?
